Ethel Avenue Residence

When a couple with three young daughters stumbled upon an old house near their current home, they fell in love with its potential. KMD collaborated on a gut renovation to create their dream home of family-friendly, California living. A historic designation limited exterior changes and put the emphasis on interior interventions. The result is a 4-story home connected by a new central stair with a playroom and home offices on the bottom level, a living/dining floor on the ground level, and two bedroom floors above. Furniture and finishes reflect a simple, modern yet classic sensibility.
